....did not happen last night.
After going out to dinner, I got a call from my roommate at around 10pm.
Me: "Hey, what's going on?"
Roommate: "Our apartment building is on fire."
Me: "Haha. Lawl, nice one. So really, what's going on?"
Roommate: "No - dude. Really - our apartment. It's on fire. Flames, dude. It's ABLAZE."
Me: "uhh"
Me: ".........."
Me: "=O"
It was a 3 alarm fire, multiple fire trucks, ambulances, police cars. Someone was brought to the hospital for minor burn injuries (but it's said he's totally fine, thank goodness). The road, which is pretty busy and gets quite a bit of traffic, was completely blocked off. The apartment rooms on the third and fourth floor, on the right hand side (mines on the third floor, on the left hand side), are completely burned out. Just these charred gaping holes. You could see how bad it is through the windows, which aren't there anymore.
Fortunately, like I said, my apartment is on the left hand side, not the right, and after all was said and done, I was able to get escorted up to my apartment room by one of the firemen (the stairwell was intact). Everything looks perfectly in order. My stuff is just *untouched*. Granted, a mere 20 feet away, the apartment next to mine is completely gone. Some god of something somewhere must love me. The only damage that my apartment had was door damage from when the firemen kicked it in to make sure no one was in there, which, to be honest, I'm certainly glad they did. What if one of my roommates was sleeping in there and the fire ended up spreading?
They still don't know what caused it.
That's my actual building during the fire in that photo, btw. See the two firemen running up the ladder on the left? My apartment is over on that side, even further left from where they are.
I'm just glad that my stuff seems to be fine, and I'm glad that no one was seriously hurt.
Needless to say, testing out the new Lifebloom change on the PTR kind of jumped off of my list of things to do last night.
But never fear! Although I can't get back into my apartment yet, and have no idea when I'll be able to, I'll be hanging out at Pete's apartment (which I usually do anyway ^^). So tonight I'll check it out and let you all know :)

OMG I'm glad to hear no one was hurt and that your apartment wasn't damaged! I'm with you - I think I would be glad to know firemen would kick down the door to check on people.
Looking forward to your LB test. I logged over to the PTR today but couldn't bring myself to do anything useful. I just started at another tree casting rejuv over and over again!
O_O
I was going to berate you for posting a misleading title... then I kept reading!
Glad to hear you're alright and your apartment wasn't affected.
Thanks guys =) I'm really, really lucky that my apartment was fine.
In other news, I'm all finished DLing and getting ready to (hopefully) log into the PTR!
WoW! I'm glad you and your roommates are ok, And that nobody was seriously hurt. Glad your stuff is OK too, but seriously. People > stuff. Glad the people are good.
@Maerdred: After I reread my entry, I saw that I had written "I'm just glad that my stuff seems to be fine, and I'm glad that no one was seriously hurt."
And then I was like, damn, people are gonna think I'm a cold hearted plastic materialistic consumer bitch.
Because I put stuff in front of people.
For the record, people > stuff.
=P
