Call me lazy, but I'm going to refer to Rolling Hots for this. My entire article that I *was* going write can be easily summed up by Sylly in these two posts, that you can find here and here. She's got some fantastic information and great analysis about the new Innervate that every druid should read.
Ok, ok, you want the basics, I'll give you the basics:
The Innervate tooltip will now read: "Innervate: This ability has been redesigned to grant 450% of the casting Druid's base mana pool to the target over 20 seconds."
This means you'll regen a flat amount of mana: 15732 mana over 20 seconds, to be exact.
Now: go read Sylly's posts.
Enjoy!

Well, that kind of saddens me really... From the top of my head, ratio mp5:spirit still is something like 4:1 regen-wise right, around 3:1 with Kings?
That doesn't change, but because innervate is no longer spirit-based, spirit pretty much looses all it's flair for me. Raw spellpower and raw mp5 have always been better for what they're meant to do, but I wanted spirit because it combined those 1 things into 1 stat, as well as boosting my Innervate. Spirit will be a secundairy stat now, alongside with, say, strength or something.
I might seem emotional and out of whack here, but I just don't get WHY ON EARTH they would do this... It hits the CORE of the class, it's what makes us unique, and only for... what was it again... Moonkin PvP? Don't get me wrong, I'd like for my feathered peers to have the same benefits as the rest of us, my off-specc is Moonkin. But, well, then I want to be able to spawn treeants from my roots too, to put things in context ^^
Because 1 out of 4 mana-using specs has an issue, (PvE/PvP laserchicken, PvE/PvP CO2-converter) they just alter the spells mechanic? Oh wait, that's what they've been doing for quite a few months now... Why not try to implement some pvp-additions to talents or something? Or even better, add a new condition to Innervate:
IF Player_stam >= Player_spirit THEN Inner_rate_on_player=600%
But that might buff their leveling too much again, and might even make it a viable leveling-build...
Basically it's a change for the better for me, I don't have 25's Ulduar-gear (yet), but still I don't like it. I guess I'll have to make a post about innervate-prioritizing on our guild-forum now... I will NOT innervate that Hunter ^^
I kind of like this change, because if I see someone out of mana, I don't have to stop and think about if they're a spirit-based class. Innervating hunters ftw! =P
A huge driving force behind this change was PvP, for sure, and I think that's a good change as well. However, in PvE, this really makes me wonder how good spirit will continue to be. Part of me thinks the demand for spirit won't change much at all - think of it like this: your spirit was making your innervate awesome, right? Well, now your innervate is still awesome, it just happens to not be affected by spirit. So spirit is still giving you spell power in tree form, and your innervate is still awesome, so, why start to limit your spirit? Just my 2c.
I still like my spirit -> spell power ratio. ^^
I wrote up a whole thing on spirit the other day. It won't be as good of a stat, but there's no way to avoid it... so it doesn't matter if it's good or not, lol.
@Lissanna: Agreed; it's not like we can actively replace a spirit stat with spell power if we want to. It's not even like I could replace a spirit gem with a spell power gem - I already have all of my gem sockets as Runed Scarlet Rubies, regardless of color or socket bonus.
Hmz, I think I miiiiight have overreacted a little bit yesterday :P
No, spirit will not be the same as strength ^^
However, in the past I have skipped pieces that were probably better but had much less or no spirit at all on them. With the changes discussed here, I will not do that anymore, and I will most probably not enchant for spirit anymore either, unless there's no spellpower or mp5-enchant available.
Spirit-based regen (i.e. innervate) was the last clinch to our original technics. With the removal of spirit enhancing healing bonus from treeform in TBC, after 3.1.2 the "only" thing spirit will do, is combine 2 stats at a lower value.
I just wasn't clear in my previous post, I apologize.
